Mary Simpson

EDMOND —     Mary Simpson, 84, was born in Altus, Okla., on October 4, 1928, and passed away January 14, 2013, in Golden, Colo.

Mary met Floyd Simpson in 1945; after her high school graduation, they were married January 15, 1946.

Mary and Floyd lived in Luther, Okla., where they raised their three daughters. Their family spent countless hours on Lake Texoma fishing and skiing. Floyd and Mary owned a laundry in Luther for several years. Mary also worked at the First National Bank of Luther and retired from Oklahoma Christian College.

Mary and Floyd spent their retirement fishing and finding treasures at garage sales. They were members of the Edmond Church of Christ. After 46 years of marriage, Floyd passed away.

In 1993, Mary married Ray Simpson and moved to Golden, Colo., where they enjoyed their beautiful yard, trips to Oklahoma, and their beloved Denver Broncos.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Floyd; daughter Carolyn Monk, and her parents, Joe and Luna Swindell.

She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Ray; daughters Kathy Bumgarner and Marilyn Simpson; sister Linda Dickerson; son-in-law, Ron Monk; grandchildren Chris Monk, Pamela and Kevin Reiff, Staci and Chris Hayes, Teri and Kevin Bachhofer, and Melissa Simpson; five great-grandchildren in Oklahoma, and many nieces and nephews. Mary also is survived by Ray’s children in Colorado: Tim, Mike, Ron, and Vickie Simpson, as well as Ray’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her Christian life has been an inspiration to her family and friends, and her family will treasure their precious memories.

Private family services were February 2, 2013 at Luther Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Search, PO Box 371, Edmond, OK 73083.
