EDMOND —
Evelyn Swails, age 87, of Yoakum, Texas, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2012. She was born January 25, 1925, to Henry Birkholz and Henrietta Janssen Birkholz in Lansing, Mich. She married Tom Swails of Edmond, Okla. and was a nurse, a homemaker, member of First Baptist Church, the Mission Service Corp and Campers on Mission, and was an avid volunteer worker in the church library.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Tom Swails and great-grandson Kody Cobb. Evelyn is survived by her daughters Sharon Cobb and husband Troy, of Neodesha, Kan., Susan O’Neill and husband Dennis of Yoakum; son Tommy Wayne Swails and wife Pamela of Science Hill, Ky.; grandchildren: Travis Cobb and wife Erin, Trisha Cramer and husband Billy, Trina Cobb, Jeremy O’Neill and wife April, Nathan O’Neill and wife Jenny, and Jared Swails; four great-grandchildren; sister Shirley Porterfield and husband Bob of Dallas; and brother Vernon Birkholz and wife Caroline of Irving, Texas.
The funeral service will be 4 p.m. Friday, at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home in Yoakum, officiated by Pastor Richard Bowden. Burial will be at Yoakum Restland Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to First Baptist Church Missions, or Accolade Hospice.
