EDMOND —
Arlene Grace Sette, 84, of Edmond, Okla., was born March 22, 1928, the daughter of Alonzo James and Cora Viola (Knott) Weems. She died Friday, December 7, 2012 at her home in Edmond.
Arlene was raised on the family farm west of Seiling, Okla., and she attended Seiling School where she graduated high school with the class of 1946. She moved to Dodge City, Kan. in 1946 where she worked as a telephone operator. She met Glenn Hugh Sette and they were united in marriage June 6, 1953 in Clayton, N.M.
Due to Glenn’s work on the Santa Fe Railroad, they lived in several states from Colorado to central Oklahoma. They liked traveling in their pickup camper and later they enjoyed several cruises. They traveled most of the states, as well as, Mexico, Canada and the Pacific. Arlene enjoyed making friends in their many moves, many of whom she still had contact with. She also belonged to two Edmond Bridge Clubs. She and Glenn enjoyed boating and skiing, as well as, bowling. She was an avid shopper and was known to find where the bargains could be found. In her later years, she had become both an Oklahoma City Thunder and Sooner fan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glenn April 27, 2011, one brother Chester Weems Sr. and one sister, Beatrice Livingston.
Arlene is survived by two nephews and a niece, Chester Weems and wife Velma of Yukon, John Weems and wife Marie and Donna Merriman and husband Albert both of Seiling, several great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. Glenn’s Kansas family was also Arlene’s family.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at the Redinger Chapel with Pastor Orville White, officiating. Interment will be in the Brumfield Cemetery.
