The Edmond Sun
Barbara Elaine Goodnight, 70, of Edmond, Okla., passed away April 7, 2013. She was born July 16, 1942, the daughter of Paul and Flora Weiss of Edmond. She had one sister, Arwanna Jean Shotts. Barbara was reared in the Church of Christ at Edmond where she found her husband of nearly 50 years, Ronny Goodnight. There were two children born to this union, son David Paul and daughter Kimberly Dawn.
Barbara attended Edmond Public schools and graduated with honors. She graduated with honors from Central State College (now the University of Central Oklahoma) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.
Barbara was, first and foremost, the greatest Christian wife anyone could ever have and an incredible mother. She was a school teacher, a preacher’s wife, and a salesman’s wife. In addition to that, Barbara was a fine Elder’s wife of 17 years and taught the Toddler II class at Sonshine School with her mother (Flora) and sister (Arwanna) for 32 wonderful years. She has many wonderful Christian friends and family members that surround her today, but her kind and sweet spirit is safe in the arms of Jesus.
Barbara is survived by her husband Ron of 49 years; son David Goodnight and his wife Maralee Goodnight of South Bend, Ind.; daughter Kim Northcott and husband Randy of Edmond; sister Arwanna Shotts and husband Lendon; grandchildren, Alex Northcott, Kenzie Northcott, Hailey Northcott, Jacqueline Ashley Goodnight, Alexandra Taylor Goodnight, Lyndsi Faye Stratton, and Kayli Rebecca Stratton; great-grandson, Bryant Davieon Miller, and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Edmond Church of Christ with interment to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Edmond.
