Charlyn Laura Ryan Sterne

EDMOND —     Charlyn “Lyn” Laura Ryan Sterne, 77, of Edmond, Okla., passed from this earth Sunday, October 27, 2013 after a 13-year battle with pulmonary fibrosis. She was born February 19, 1936 in Seminole, Okla., to Ollie Della McMillin and Charles Everett Ryan.

Lyn graduated from Hominy High School in 1954 and later studied accounting in Tulsa.  She graduated with honors from Southern Alberta Institute of Technology at Calgary, Alberta, Canada with a degree in Library Arts in 1974.

Lyn married Donald Leon Sterne on June 3, 1956 in Tulsa.  With Don being in the oil business, they moved frequently and each of their three children was born in a different state.

Lyn and Don settled in the Edmond area in 1974. After Don retired from Grace Petroleum in 1985, Don and Lyn formed Petro-Management Associates, Inc. which they affectionately called PMA, in Edmond.  Lyn was its very able treasurer, a position she held until she and Don officially retired in 2000.  Don and Lyn were charter members of Santa Fe Presbyterian Church in Edmond.  Lyn was a devoted and loving wife, mother and friend to many.

Her favorite hobby was genealogy.  She and Don spent many happy hours traveling and researching their family trees.  She also was a voracious reader.  Lyn will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her devoted husband Don of Edmond; daughter Laura Michelle Wolfson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; son Mark Donald of Dallas, Texas; and daughter Charla Marie of Girdwood, Alaska; four grandchildren, Deya Holly Wolfson of Chicago, Ill., Rael Daevid Wolfson of Oklahoma City, Aikea Elyse Wolfson and husband Jaime Contreras of Chicago, and Piper Violet Sage of Girdwood; and four great grandchildren, Stephanie Wolfson, Daevid Wolfson, Michael Wolfson and Jacob Contreras.

In lieu of flowers you may memorialize Lyn with a donation to the American Lung Association.

Family greeted friends from 5 - 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, at Matthews Funeral Home.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday October 31, 2013 at Santa Fe Presbyterian Church, 1603 N. Santa Fe Ave., Edmond. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Funeral services are under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home of Edmond.
