R. Wayne Sells

EDMOND —     R. (Romulo) Wayne Sells, 77, formerly of West Columbia, Texas, passed away in the early morning of December 24, 2013 at The Fountains at Canterbury in Oklahoma City, Okla.  He was born June 17, 1936 in Shattuck, Okla., to Israel Edward and Zola Faye Sells. He grew up on the family farm in Ellis County and graduated from Laverne High School.

He served in the U.S. Army in Germany, attended Northwestern at Alva and worked various oil company jobs before going to Oklahoma State University.  At Stillwater he secured his chemical engineering degree, and married Rita Hamlin.

He resided in the Gulf of Texas area and worked for Dow Chemical Operations, where he was responsible for opening plants in Brazil and Germany. After retirement he kept busy with his farm, fishing, and hunting.  He and his late wife of 22 years, Patsy McCrosky Sells, enjoyed traveling and entertaining family and friends.

He is survived by his mother, Faye Sells;  daughter Jacqueline and her husband David; granddaughter Cody Reese; son Gene Sells; three step-children, Clifford, Brenda, and JoAnn; two sisters, Mary Bond and Marjorie Young; cousins, nieces, nephews.

Family and friends were deeply loved by Wayne and they all loved him.  He was always ready to go the second mile to help others.  His smile, thoughtfulness and sense of humor will be remembered.  His renewal of his faith in God in recent years assures us that he will be waiting for us in the presence of our eternal Lord.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Matthews Funeral Home chapel in Edmond, Okla.
