Ross Albert Moran

EDMOND —     Ross Albert Moran, 86, died peacefully on May 15, 2014. He was born July 6, 1927, in Wichita, Kan., to James A. and Margaret (Orndorff) Moran.

He grew up in Wichita and served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1946. He married Eleanor Coplin in 1946, and together they had three children: Linda, Randy and Susan; relocating to Oklahoma City in 1960. After his first marriage ended, he married Jean Morgan, the love of his life, in 1968; gaining her two daughters, Marsha and Karen.

Ross began working for OTASCO mounting tires at age 15; he retired from the company as a Tulsa-based regional manager in 1986. He and Jean built their dream home on Lake Keystone, and loved hosting friends and family there, returning to Oklahoma City to be near family after his retirement. A gifted, self-taught pianist, his life was filled with music, love and laughter – and resilience during times of sadness. With his zest for life, entertaining and coast-to-coast travel in his motorhome, he was a bright light for his large, extended family. His annual Christmas Eve party, during which family members sang carols and took turn playing handbells under his direction, was a family tradition for decades.

Ross was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Don, and his four daughters: Linda Stevens, Susan Morgan, Marsha Brown and Karen Folsom.

He is survived by his wife Jean; his brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Harriett Moran; his son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Diann Moran; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and his beloved terrier, Roxi.

Services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 20, at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene.  To share a memory or condolence, visit
