Thomas Edwin Draper

EDMOND — Thomas “Tom” Edwin Draper passed from this earthly life on May 20, 2014 after an 8-year battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Tom lived his entire life in Oklahoma, spending the last 43 ½ years married to his beautiful wife Gayle.

Tom grew up in Britton, Okla. and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1964. Tom began his career in the grocery business at the age of 14 starting out as a sack-boy. Tom realized his dreams of owning his own store, opening Draper’s in Ardmore Oklahoma in 1981 and then two more stores in Oklahoma City in later years until his retirement in 2006.

Tom loved country living surrounded by his horses, dogs, cats, and wide open spaces. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, his loyalty, integrity; compassion and his deep love for his wife, children and family.

Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Esta Fae Draper.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Gayle; daughters, Kelly and her husband Robert Mustain, and Trisha Draper; son, Don Draper; grandchildren, Travis and his wife Mary Mustain, Keaton Draper, Shelby Mustain; father, Edwin Draper; sisters, Peggy Draper, Kay and her husband John Stiver; brother, Glen Draper; nieces, nephews, many special friends, colleagues and extended relatives.

Graveside services were Friday, May 23, at the IOOF Cemetery in Arcadia. Donations can be made for research to the “Lewy Body Dementia Association”. Arrangements were under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
