Betty Irene Ryan

EDMOND —     Betty Irene Bourne Ryan of Edmond, Okla., passed from this life on June 11, 2014 to join her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in eternity after a short illness.  She was born November 7, 1928 near Braman, Okla., in rural Kay County to Wiley and Jamima Harvella Bourne.  The family later moved to Burden, Kan., where she graduated from Burden High School in May 1946.  She married Charles Joseph Ryan on July 24, 1946.

    She was a faithful wife, mother, and grandmother, lovingly caring and portraying an example of Christ for her husband, children, and grandchildren. Charles and Betty were faithful members of the Baptist Church wherever they resided, last serving at Lakeview Baptist Church, Guthrie, Okla.  

    She spent her later years painting many still life, landscape, and portraits with oils and acrylic paints.  She was a great cook.  Her pies were especially wonderful.  She enjoyed many memorable vacations with her family.

    Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Charles J. Ryan; her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

    She is survived by her son, Charles B. Ryan and wife Melinda of Tulsa, Okla.; her daughter, Sandra J. Admire and husband Larry of Edmond; three sisters, Lula Mae McMinn of Burden, Kan.; Wanda Santora of Roseville, Calif.; Pat Gregory of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.  She is also survived by four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one great-grandchild still in the womb awaiting her birth.

    Funeral services will be 10  a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Lakeview Baptist Church, Guthrie. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery, Guthrie. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

    There will be no visitation.
