Charles Homer Young

EDMOND —     Charles Homer Young, 75, of Edmond, Okla., has gone on to be with the Lord and thousands of old and new family and friends he will meet in Heaven.

    Charlie spent his life knowing and loving people from all walks of life.  Whether serving as a school teacher or as a salesman, he was known for wisdom, kindness, laughter, and help in hard times by everyone who ever met him, by hundreds he could actually say he knew intimately, and by thousands more who were touched by his life.  Charlie was a 1954 graduate of Edmond High School, a 1958 graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma, and a 1974 graduate of the University of Oklahoma. 

    He is preceded in death by his parents Homer and Meda, brother Harold, wife Arlone, and son Jay. 

    He is survived by daughters Robyn and Kerri Young; daughter-in-law Lynn Burgess; grandchildren Katie, Walter and his wife Melinda Johnson, Austin, Miles, and Isabelle Young, and Henry Burgess; sons-in-law Ken Bond, Warren Johnson, and Greg Burgess; sister-in-law Connie Chitwood; and his extended family and loving caregivers Mildred Lehman and Angela Wilson. 

    In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Breakfast on Boulevard, payable to First Christian Church, PO Box 3548, Edmond, OK 73083. 

    Charlie’s life will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2012 at First Christian Church in Edmond. 

    Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond.
