Mary Frances Holloway

EDMOND —     Our mom, our mentor, friend, prayer warrior, and by far the greatest cook ever known. We will miss you every day but will always try to make you proud.

She was a classic dresser, accomplished bridge player, award-winning bowler, and party planner. For her signature pineapple-upside-down cake, she procured 100% fresh pineapple from Hawaii, pecans from Oklahoma, cherries from her local market, and her own secret recipe baked in her timeless cast-iron skillet. She found great pleasure in canning her own jellies and perfecting her Sunday fried chicken and gravy simply for the joy of watching others melt with pleasure while consuming her bounty.

She married her main squeeze, Harold, an ONG welder, with whom they had two sons, Steve and Rex. She taught them to love the Lord, to study in school, and she took great pride in getting to know their friends by frequently feeding them at her kitchen table.

As her “nest” emptied she cherished the times when her sons returned home with their wives, Sandy and Debbie, along with their children, Sarah, Cahn, Mindy and Jeremy. Time seemed to pass quickly as her family continued to expand to add her great-grandchildren, Kristen, Madeleine, Brodie, Trace, and Cahner. She treasured her Tuesday visits with her grandsons, even setting up a “convenience store” in her room for the boys’ fun and pleasure.

She will always be in our hearts.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2014 at the Coleman Cemetery in Porum, Okla. under the direction of Hunn Black & Merritt Funeral Home and Crematory.
