Ola Marie Hogue

EDMOND — Ola Marie Hogue, 83, of Edmond, Okla., passed away on July 10, 2012 at Mercy Hospital, after a two-year battle with breast cancer. Marie was born on July 27, 1928, in Junction City, Ark., to Doss and Myrtle Hanson. Marie, also known as “Granny Hogie”, was an incredible woman and loved dearly by all. She was the backbone of her family and always put others before herself, consistently emulating the love of Jesus Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and a brother.

Marie is survived by her four children Ramona Stafford, David Bradley, Lydia Bradley, Harold Hogue, 11 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Her family always enjoyed spending time eating black-eyed peas, fried okra, and hot water cornbread that she made during family meals.  We can all remember the familiar smell that stayed in your clothes after such a feast!

During her battle with cancer, there was never a moment she complained; she held strong to her faith and believed that she would be healed from her illness. We know now that she is truly healed as she is surely dancing and celebrating her homecoming with her Savior! Her legacy is her faith and love for Jesus Christ and she has set the standard in our family by walking this out every day of her life.

A come-and-go reception was 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 12 at Crawford Family Funeral Service of Edmond. Services celebrating Marie’s life were held 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 13 at the funeral home chapel. Burial followed at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond.
