EDMOND —
Clinton Edward Hendricks Jr., 60, was born March 23, 1951 in Shreveport, La., to Clinton Edward and Faustina Roberts Hendricks. He passed away quietly in Mercy Hospital Hospice on July 1, 2012, after a long battle with diabetes and renal failure.
Preceding him in death were his mother and nieces, Sonja Buck and Ambria Galbraith.
He is survived by his father Clinton Hendricks of Edmond, Okla.; two sisters, Aloycha de La Roche of Las Vegas, Nev., and Elizabeth Buck of Edmond; brother Billy Hendricks of southern Louisiana, and brother- in-law Jim Buck of Edmond. He is also survived by nieces Lesa Tilley and her husband Danny; Jerri Kaner; Melissa Rice-Graham, and Karen Rice; nephews Jim Buck and wife Shannon, Tim Buck and wife Sarah, and John Rice and wife Gina, and many great nephews and nieces. He also is survived by one aunt, Charlene Alexander of Oklahoma City and many cousins.
Above all else, Edward valued his personal relationship with God. He accepted God as his personal savior at an early age and attended the Assembly of God for many years until his health failed, and after that he faithfully read his Bible and prayed daily and he enjoyed listening to Joel Osteen and the Gaither’s on TV whenever possible. He lived and grew up in Shreveport and attended grade school and middle school there. In 1966 the family moved to Cleburne, Texas where he attended high school before moving and working in the Fort Worth area for many years. As a youth he had a paper route for several years, at which he was very dedicated. As a teenager, he enjoyed playing the clarinet in his high school band. After high school he attended the University of Texas at Arlington for two years. Even after he became ill 15 years ago, he always tried to help people, especially his father who shared a room with him for four years in an Edmond long term care facility. He dearly loved his family and lived vicariously through their many world travels after he could no longer travel himself.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday July 5, 2012 at Oakwood Memorial Cemetery in Oakwood, Okla., under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
