EDMOND —     Edwin Eugene “Doc”  Humphreys, 80, was born May 15, 1933 in Borger, Texas and died July 8, 2013. His close friends and family always referred to him by the familiar nickname, “Doc,” a tribute to his friendly and approachable nature.

    Doc graduated from Borger High School in 1951, then received his Business Administration degree from Frank Phillips College in Borger. After beginning his career in produce marketing for Ideal Grocery stores in Borger, he received a promotion that led him though Amarillo, Texas, from where he again promoted to the position of produce supervisor for the chain. He then moved to Oklahoma City, Okla.  where he worked as produce buyer for Safeway Stores, later to be renamed as Homeland Stores. Doc’s career in produce business spanned nearly 50 years.

    After accepting Christ as his savior in the mid 60’s, Doc lived out his salvation experience by serving as a deacon for many years.

    Doc was preceded in death by his parents and by one son, Danny E. Humphreys.

    He leaves behind his eldest son, Del C. Humphreys, his youngest son, C. David Humphreys, five grandchildren, and four great grand-children.

    Services celebrating Doc’s life were Saturday, July 20, 2013 under the direction of Crawford Family Funeral Service, Edmond.
