Suzanne Hipe King, 60, of Kingwood, Texas, was called to her heavenly home on July 22, 2013 after several years of Alzheimer’s disease. She was born November 12, 1952, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., to George and Mariba Hipe. She grew up in Lexington, Ky. and Austin, Texas, and graduated from Sam Houston State University with a degree in Social Services.
Living in Tyler, Texas, she married Lanny King on Feb. 12, 1977. After staying home to raise her children, she went back to school to get her teaching degree. She taught special education at Edmond North High School for 13 years. She was a member of Henderson Hills Baptist church while in Edmond. After residing in Edmond, Okla. for 23 years, she moved to Kingwood, Texas in 2005, and was a member of Kingwood First Baptist Church.
Suzanne always put the needs of others before her own and never met a stranger.
Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Lanny; daughter, Natalie Choate and her husband Brian; son Nathan King and his wife Lauren; sister Patricia H. Mitchell, brothers Steve Hipe and Kevin Hipe; grandchildren, Kaylee, Ethan, and Katherine, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Suzanne will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 26, at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mendenhall, Miss. Interment followed the service at Mendenhall City Cemetery in Mendenhall.
