Henry Robinson, Sr.

EDMOND — Henry “Hank” Robinson Sr., 74, of Edmond, Okla., passed away August 11, 2012. He was born November 22, 1937 to Luella Nash Robinson and Harvey Robinson, Sr. With the passing of Luella when he was 11 months old, Henry was then raised by Jack and Iola Duhart, Luella’s sister. He was raised in Bristow and attended school in Slick, Okla.

Henry enlisted in the U.S. Army February 22, 1960.  He worked for the post office for 31 years before retirement. He then worked at Wal-Mart which gave him a flexible schedule to bowl, his favorite sport.

He married Barbara Jean Butler. To this union five children were born: Henry Robinson, Jr., Gwendolyn Robinson-Johnson, Kenneth Robinson, Sr., Kathleen Robinson and Jacqueline Robinson.  He also helped raise Michael Bell, Barbara’s youngest brother.  Barbara preceded him in death.  His grandchildren are Carlton Loyton Robinson, Aryn Ashley Robinson, Karysma Monique Robinson, Joshua Caleb Johnson, Tyson Avery Robinson, Joseph Caleb Johnson, Nadia Taylor Robinson, Kenneth L. Robinson, Jr., Michael Isaiah Morgan, Lilith Pearl McMullen, Kyauna Jasmine McMullen and Alivia Barbara Robinson.

Henry was greeted at Heaven’s gates by those family members who went before him: his parents, the aunt and uncle that raised him and his two brothers.

He leaves to cherish his memories a host of other relatives, friends and  his special friend, Gloria Melendez.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday August 18, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Edmond. Interment will be at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.

Services entrusted to the care of Baggerley Funeral Home of Edmond, Oklahoma.  www.baggerley.com.
