EDMOND —
Lu Anne (Lu) Hester, 81, of Oklahoma City, Okla., passed away Thursday December 27, 2012 at Baptist Integris Hospital. She was born October 24, 1931 in Oklahoma City, the daughter of the late Robert Carl Larkins and Dorothy Anne Larkins Burg.
Lu attended Classen High School and the University of Oklahoma. While attending OU she met and later married Charles Arthur Janes of Holdenville Okla., in December 1951. After becoming a widow in 1966, Lu later married Bob J. Hester of Oklahoma City. Lu and Bob were married 45 years. They owned and operated the Smokehouse BBQ restaurant in Downtown Oklahoma City for many years. Lu was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority and remained active with the Panhellenic Association. Bob and Lu were active members of Crossings Community Church where they helped pioneer the food ministry.
Lu is survived by her husband Bob; sons Jeff Janes and wife Rejina of Newalla, Okla., Gregg Janes and wife Lisa of Edmond, Okla., Steve Hester and wife Fern of Clearlake Texas; grandchildren Brandon Janes, wife Megan and daughter Ava of St. Louis, Olivia Means and husband Eric and daughter Ellie of Oklahoma City and Mechell Janes of Asher, Okla.; cousins Robert and Marilyn Casey and family of Williamsburg,Va., Carlton and Beth Casey and family of Williamsburg, Lewis Casey and family of Richmond, Va., Ron and Susie Bolin and family of Austin, Texas and many life-long friends.
Lu’s treasure on earth was her family and friends who she loved and cherished everyday of her life.
Special thanks to the wonderful supportive and loving staff of 901 ICU at Baptist Integris.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday January 3, 2012, at Crossings Community Church Chapel, 14600 North Portland Ave., OKC. under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond.
