EDMOND —
Paul Allen Preston, 70, of Edmond, Okla., passed away Sunday, August 19, 2012, at home with his family. Paul was born June 11, 1942, in the telephone office at Piedmont, where his mother worked as a switchboard operator. His parents were Mildred and Lawrence Preston, both deceased.
Paul attended Piedmont schools and the University of Central Oklahoma, where he earned a Bachelors and Masters degree in education. He taught for 29 years in Oklahoma City Public Schools, helping special students learn life skills and prepare for employment. Paul was an outstanding husband, father, grandfather and friend. Friends knew him for his quick wit, a mischievous sense of humor, and enormous integrity. He was a devoted and knowledgeable fisherman and ardent University of Oklahoma fan.
He is survived by his wife Marcia of 49 years; their sons Jeff Preston and Andrew Preston and his wife Gina; granddaughters Jessica and Ashley; a brother, Larry Preston, and a sister, Marilyn Lucas. He will be forever missed and remembered.
It was Paul’s wish not to have a funeral. Instead, the family will host a celebration of his life at Paul and Marcia’s home in Edmond. Friends are welcome to stop by between 2 and 4 p.m. Saturday, August 25, to help honor and remember a life well lived. Paul would insist on casual attire.
