Sara May Odgers


EDMOND — Sara May Odgers, 94, peacefully passed into Christ’s loving embrace on July 8, 2013.  She was born August 9, 1918 in Springfield, Ill, to John A. and May Enos and grew up on the family farm in Buffalo Hart, IL.

A graduate of Springfield HS, she attended the University of Illinois where she met the love of her life, William O. “Bill” Odgers. They married on February 27, 1943 and celebrated 67 years together. They moved to an acreage in Edmond’s Fisher Hills addition in 1960, where they raised four sons.

Love, prayer and service were hallmarks of Sara May’s life.  She lived “The Golden Rule,” and her compassionate, prayerful spirit touched countless lives. She was a tireless volunteer through her church, and also was a proud member of PEO Chapter ES, Edmond.

Sara May was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her son, Bruce; and grandson, Patrick.

She is survived by Alan and Katie Odgers, Rob and Cindy Odgers, John and Jacqueline Odgers, Mary Odgers, 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. July 15 at Church of  the Servant, 14343 N. MacArthur Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK  73142.  She requested that memorials be sent to Hannah’s Promise, in care of Church of the Servant.
