Virginia Ruth Pallady

EDMOND —     Virginia Ruth Pallady, 95, was born October 22, 1918 to Paul L. Brent, Sr. and Ruth (McKee) Brent in Douglas, Okla.  She was married October 28, 1939 to Carl Loyal Pallady.  She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993.

Virginia received a BA degree from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Okla. in 1940.  Her majors were music and English.  She was involved in many musical programs while at the university; she played the piano and violin, and sang beautifully.  She travelled extensively with various musical groups while completing her degree.

She completed a secretarial program at Oklahoma City University in 1964.  After her graduation, she became the private secretary for Joe McCain, director of Social Security for the State of Oklahoma.  Upon his retirement, she accepted a position as secretary to several doctors at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Virginia was an expert seamstress and made many clothes for herself and her family.  She enjoyed ornamental and vegetable gardening and played the piano expertly.  During the 1990’s and early 2000’s she assumed a position as pianist for her Sunday school class at St. Luke’s Methodist Church.  She was a superb gourmet cook and prepared countless delicious meals for her family and guests.  A lifelong progressive Democrat, she enjoyed political discussions that easily proved her points because of her incisive, intelligent insights.

She is survived by her niece Pat Smith of Denver, Colo., her son, an only child, Dr. Stephen C. Pallady, and her nephew George W. “Bulldog” Sabia.

Virginia will forever be remembered as a highly intelligent, refined, charming, conversational, supportive, organized, and beautiful lady who had a successful 54-year marriage and was an outstanding mother to her son.  While maintaining a wonderful family setting, she made a great success of her 18-year career working for the government.

Virginia was utterly adored by everyone who met her.  She was indeed a lovely lady in every regard.

She journeyed to be with the Lord on December 7, 2013.   She will be very lovingly remembered by her family and many friends.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, December 13, 2013 at Memorial Park Cemetery Historical Chapel.  Chaplain Brad Jones will officiate.  Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Services are under direction of Baggerley Funeral Home.
