Mary Lou Womble

EDMOND —     Mary Lou Womble, 79, went home to be with the Lord on February 6, 2014.  She was born March 29, 1934 and raised in Waco, Texas where she attended Baylor University.  It was there she met the love of her life and God’s blueprint for a husband, Bill. Bill became an Air Force pilot where their overseas assignments included Spain, Germany, Bill’s stint in Vietnam and Panama. They had two sons, Bill and Mike, and were married for 59 years.  The focus of Mary Lou’s life was her family, helping people in need and spoiling her grandchildren, Michelle, Caitlin, Billy and Ashley.

She organized numerous trips to Beavers Bend, Lake Murray or wherever we could all go for a “getaway”. Those trips have provided irreplaceable memories, stories and photos for a lifetime for the entire family.

Mary Lou is preceded in death by her parents, Mabel, Liston and her sister Elizabeth.

She is survived by her husband, Bill; her son Bill and his wife Janie, their children, Caitlin and Ashley, and son Mike and his wife Irene, Mike’s children Michelle and Billy and their mother Carol.

The family thanks the incredible and compassionate staff at Epworth Villa which had become Mary Lou’s home for the past two years.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the First Christian Church Chapel, Edmond. In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations to Free to Live or to Epworth Hospice.

Services are under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
