Matthew E. Meyer

EDMOND —     Matthew Eric entered this life the fifth child of Marcia Jane Anderson and Floyd George Meyer on December 20, 1961 in Naeve Hospital, Albert Lea, Minn. He left us much too soon on February 11, 2014 at his home in Oklahoma City, Okla., from complications of pneumonia, while surrounded by his much-beloved guitars.

Matt grew up in the village of Walters, Minn. where he was baptised  at home with family during a huge snowstorm into the congregation of Faith Lutheran Church.

He graduated from Kiester-Walters High School, Kiester, Minn., in 1980, where he was an outstanding wrestler, played baseball, was an under-sized fullback and linebacker on the football team.

A self-taught guitarist, Matt learned how to repair and re-build instruments. He collected and expertly played his desired and loved “git-boxes” (guitars) missing only an old classic Martin. He was an avid reader and Sudoku player; and did not like losses in chess nor cribbage, so seldom did.

Matt lived across much of this country from Utah to Connecticut to Oklahoma. He was an appreciated and beloved employee at LEGO, Enfield, Conn. and Washington Irving Elementary School, Edmond, Okla. He leaves friends everywhere.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his sister Susan (Michael) DeFranco of Port Charlotte, Fla., and brothers Michael of Panacea, Fla., Patrick (Patricia) of Mora, Minn., Jeffrey of Owatonna, Minn., and Daniel (Laurie) of Apple Valley, Minn., as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He never married.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Matthew will be 6 p.m. Saturday, February 15 at the Crawford Family Funeral Service Chapel, 610 NW 178th St. Edmond, OK 73012. The family will also have a memorial service in Minnesota at a later date.
