EDMOND —
Charles D. Harmon, 72, of Edmond, Okla.,passed away Monday, November 26, 2012 at Saint Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City, Okla. He was born August 31, 1940 to Johnny and Alma (Cathey) Harmon in Indianola, Okla.
Charles graduated from Eufaula High School in 1958, and attended Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton. He served in the US Army for 30 years. Charles was united in marriage to Robina Ruminer July 19, 1964 in Durant, Okla. He worked as a surveyor for the US Soil Conservation and has lived in Edmond for the last 21 years. He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Edmond.
Survivors include his wife Robina Ruminer of the home; one son, Kevin D. Harmon and his wife Kreela of McAlester; one sister, Phyllis Breuning and husband Carl of Calahan, Colo.; five brothers, Curtis Harmon and wife Lou Ann of Denton, Texas, Johnny L. Harmon and wife Linda of Krebs, Okla., Bobby Harmon and wife Pam of McAlester, Okla., Ron Harmon and wife Dede of Edmond, Kenny Harmon and wife Debbie of Shawnee, Okla.; three sisters-in-law, Shanna Harmon of Perkins, Sabra Ruminer of Edmond, and Virginia Young of Jones; three nieces Meagan Raddatz and husband Nate of Edmond, Lisa Benn and husband Bobby of Owasso, Okla., and Deanna Duerson and husband John of Jones; nephew Justin Carswell of McAlester; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Alma (Cathey) Harmon, one brother, Roger D. Harmon, and two nephews, Chris Carswell and Robert Young.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Lymphoma.
Viewing will be 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the Matthews Funeral Home Chapel, with a family visitation 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Wednesday evening and from 9 a.m. until service time on Thursday. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday November 29, 2012 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel, 601 S. Kelley, Edmond, officiated by Rev. Barry Henke.
Burial will be in Gracelawn Cemetery Edmond, under the direction of Turner Funeral Home, Hinton, Okla.
