EDMOND —
Della Rose Schwartz, 82, of Edmond Okla., went home to be with our Lord Friday December 7, 2012. She was born September 22, 1930 in Lamont, Okla. to Edgar L. and Pauline (Brown) Strickland.
She earned her bachelors degree and teaching certificate at Central State College, (UCO) Edmond, Okla.
She is survived by her husband John D. (Coach) Schwartz who she has walked together with through this life hand in hand for 62 years. She leaves behind a life-long legacy of tenderness and love that can never be put into words. Her relationship with the Lord has been her number one priority throughout her entire life. And because of that relationship, a devoted wife and loving mother came naturally.
She retired from Edmond schools after 32 years, as a first grade teacher and each and every day she brought that passion into her classroom and 27 of those precious years were spent at Orvis Risner (in the same room).
Between countless hours teaching, grading papers, preparing dinner, sitting at the kitchen table doing homework with three young children, running to games to support a full time head baseball coach and husband, she still found time to end each day prayerfully preparing to teach the upcoming lesson to her Sunday school class of 40 years to her beloved friends at Henderson Hills Baptist Church.
We will miss the sweet countenance and encouraging words she modeled throughout her life as a wife, a mom and a friend.
Della is survived by her daughter Martha New and husband Bayne and their daughter Crystal and husband Jamie and their three children Madison, Sarah and Caleb; son Marvin Schwartz and wife Karen and their three daughters Jill, Libby and Hannah; daughter Marilyn Jones and husband Cliff and their three sons Blake, Wes and wife Michelle and their two children, Leyton and Reagan. Kyle and wife Amanda and son Cade.
Della was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar L. and Pauline Strickland, two sisters Willa and Myra and one brother Edgar and her sweet little granddaughter Jennifer.
Services to celebrate the life of Della will be 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Henderson Hills Baptist Church with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
