EDMOND —
Helen Claire McCrory Munn, 82, was born March 21, 1930 to Staton and Helen Forsyth McCrory in Ardmore, Okla. and passed away December 15, 2012.
Helen attended Lawton public schools graduating in 1948. She married Raymond E. Munn, Jr. on June 26, 1948 and was married 48 years until Raymond’s death.
They moved to Blackwell, Okla. in the early 1950s where they lost their house and most of their belongings in the 1955 tornado. Their daughter, Kim, was born in 1956 and son Kevin in 1959. The family moved to Edmond in 1975. At the time of her death, Helen was a resident of Edmond Mansions.
Helen was actively involved in her children’s activities, was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed needlework. She became a member of Chapter AB of the PEO sisterhood in Blackwell and was a charter member of Chapter FK in Edmond. Helen served in every official capacity in those PEO chapters enjoying 50 plus years of membership. She was also proud and loving grandmother and “GiGi”.
She worked as secretary to the superintendent of schools in Blackwell and secretary to the dean of students at Central State University, retiring in 1993.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Nancy Ingram.
She is survived by daughter Kim and husband Robert and son Kevin and wife Therese. Also, grandchildren Chris and Kelly Campbell, Spencer, Katie and great-grandson Braden Campbell, Katie Munn and fiancée Cale Kassel, Travis Munn, Lauren and Allison Haindfield. She also leaves behind her best friend and companion John Ferguson who made the last 15 years of her life rich, full and exciting and a host of friends who loved and appreciated her sense of humor, her sharp wit and superior bridge playing skills.
Services for Helen will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 19 at Baggerley Funeral Home with interment following at Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Cottey College, Nevada, Mo. or a hospice organization of your choice.
