Donald Boydston

EDMOND —     Donald Boydston, 77, of Shawnee, Okla., former State Farm Insurance Agent and agency manager, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2014 in Shawnee. He was born October 1, 1936 in Luther, Okla., to Eugene and Carmel Louise (Young) Boydston.

    Don grew up in Luther just off famous Rt. 66 and attended Luther Public Schools and was a graduate of Luther High School. After high school he attended Central State College and in 1964 earned his Bachelor’s degree in English.

    He met the love of his life and future wife, Jeane Ann Martin while attending Central State College and they were married in 1957 and to that union was born a beautiful daughter, Kimberly Dawn Boydston in 1968.

    Don began his 40 plus years career with State Farm Insurance as an agent in Edmond, Okla., and later became the agency manger in Shawnee, for 18 years and finishing his career as an agent in Midwest City.

    Don served as president of the Edmond Rotary Club, Life Underwriters, and served 12 years as a corpsman in the United States Navy Reserves.

    Don was very active in his church throughout his life and served on many church committees. At the time of his death he was an active member in the young adult Sunday school class at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Shawnee.

    Don’s passion was going fishing with his very close friend, Ronnie Turner. He enjoyed cooking, playing bridge, watching sports, and was a bird watcher and animal lover.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Carmel Boydston; and nephew, Toby Boydston.

    Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 56 years, Jeane Ann (Martin) Boydston and Frankie kitty, of the home; daughter, Kimberly Dawn Boydston, of Shawnee; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Mary Boydston, of Lindsay, Okla.; nephews, Bobby Gene Boydston and wife, Miriam, of Lindsay, Okla., and Brent Boydston, of Wichita Falls, Texas; niece, Angie Yates; and many extended family and friends.

    Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2014 and will continue until service time. Family gathering to meet with friends will be 5 - 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh, Okla.

    A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond, Okla., with Dr. Jerry Ball officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh. A celebration of life service will held on Friday, July 18, 2014 in Shawnee, Okla.
