James Keathley Atkinson


EDMOND —     James (Jim) Keathley Atkinson, 65, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, died January 25, 2014 after a three-year battle with pancreatic cancer. He has now crossed over to his eternal heavenly home to dwell with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jim was born August 6, 1948 in Mckenzie, Tenn., to Marion Hall and Clarice Ann Atkinson. He graduated from Midwest City High School in 1966 and from the University of Oklahoma in 1970 where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.

    Jim married Sally Stammer in 1970. He went back to school at the University of Central Oklahoma and received his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting in 1986, and also obtained his CPA certification that year. Jim worked in Oil and Gas his entire career, with his last position being with Atlas Pipeline as Manager of Internal audit.

    Jim was a member of First Christian Church in Owasso, Okla. He was an avid Sooners fan. He loved all sports and competed in NSCA sporting Clays events up to his last days. He won the Oklahoma State championship in Class A in 2009 and 2011. Jim loved spending time with his wife Sally of 43 years, friends, children and grandchildren.

    Jim is survived by his wife of Edmond; son Ryan of Oklahoma City; daughter Paige and son-in-law Shane Sims of Edmond; two grandsons Luke and Bauer Sims, and his son Andrew of Edmond.

    A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, January 30 at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 2717 W. Hefner Rd., Oklahoma City under the direction of Crawford Family Funeral Service, Edmond.
