Jaida Ashley Hamilton, 40, died July 22, 2012 in Oklahoma City, Okla. Jaida really lived two lives as she was born Justin Andrew Smith on October 4, 1971. Justin graduated Fargo High School in 1990 and received a computer science scholarship to Panhandle State University where he received a Bachelors degree in Business Administration in 1994. He was married in July 1993 and later divorced. Justin became Jaida in 2002. Jaida always enjoyed outdoor sports including bicycling, hunting, and fishing. She was also a certified PADI Dive Master and enjoyed diving any chance she could. Jaida was well known for her humor, magic and entertaining, which included clowning as “Jaida Jasmine”.
For the past five years, Jaida was employed as an auditor at the Oklahoma State Auditor’s Horse Racing and Gaming Division.
Jaida was preceded in death by her parents Harold Smith and Donna Hamilton Amparan and stepmother Teresa Selph Smith, and is survived by brothers Cody Amparan and Allen Smith as well as stepfather Art Amparan.
Jaida held to her faith in Christ through good days and bad and attended the Walk to Emmaus. She will always be remembered for her joy and faith, and though she took her life we know she is with Christ. Her family loved both Justin and Jaida.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond.
