Marilyn Jane Hunteman

EDMOND —     Marilyn Jane Hunteman, 74, lost her 17-month battle with pancreatic cancer on July 30, 2012, and went to be with her Lord and Savior. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

    Marilyn was born in Brantford, Ontario, Canada on March 22, 1938 to Charles and Jane Yeates. She moved from Canada to Tahlequah, Okla. in 1948. She graduated from Nowata High School in 1956, and from Oklahoma State University in 1960.

    Marilyn married James Hunteman in Ardmore, Okla. on April 24, 1965 and the two were married for over 47 years. She taught school in Tulsa, Okla. and Bowlegs, Okla. before becoming a homemaker in 1970 after her first child was born. The family moved to Plano, Texas in 1971, where they welcomed a second child. While in Plano, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Plano until her death. She was a Sunday school teacher and director of volunteers at both Shepard Elemen-tary and Wilson Middle School.

    Marilyn is survived by her husband, James of Plano, Texas; daughter Kathryn of Dallas, Texas; son Steven and wife Janet of Edmond, Okla.; and her twin grandsons, Nathan and Jarrod, who were her doll babies.

    A graveside service will be 1 p.m., Friday, August 3, 2012 at Gracelawn Cemetery under the direction of Crawford Family Funeral Service of Edmond.

    A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2012 at First United Methodist Church of Plano, 3160 East Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, TX.

    In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Marilyn’s memory to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, www.pancan.org.
