EDMOND —     Ray Leon Walters, 75, of Edmond, Okla., was born July 16, 1937 in Stillwater, Okla., and passed away June 26, 2013.

    Ray served 11 years in the U.S. Navy as a chief petty officer on the USS Yorktown and USS Oriskany.  After a long career in the car business, he retired to his favorite jobs driving an Edmond Public School bus and a Red Carpet charter bus.  He loved his God, country and family.  He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Cora and John Walters, and brother, Wallace A. Walters.

    He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary C. Walters, and his three daughters, Debra Gambel, Cynthia Judd, and Cheryl Charter and her husband Tim.  He was a loving grandfather to Braden Judd, Justin Gambel, Alex Gambel, Kristine Charter and Brian Charter.

    Funeral services for Ray will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2013 at the Matthews Funeral Home Chapel in Edmond.  Interment will follow at Gracelawn Cemetery, Edmond.
