Lois Louise Simonton

EDMOND —     Long-time Edmond resident, Lois Louise Simonton, 84, was born October 16, 1928, in Ninnekah, Okla. to parents Samuel Allen and Rosie Lee (Williams) Drummond and passed away August 5, 2013, in Guthrie, Okla.

    She married the love of her life, Lewis Mack Simonton on June 13, 1954, at the Holy City in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Oklahoma College for Women in 1949 and was an elementary school teacher in Colorado and Paul’s Valley, Okla. then was a homemaker and mother for the rest of her life.

    She loved to travel with her husband all over the world. She especially liked Hong Kong, Hawaii, and Europe. She also traveled with her sister Gayle to the Holy Land.

    She and Mack kept a huge vegetable and fruit garden, and later in life she loved to work on her flower beds. She made good country food and was an excellent cook. She also liked to sew quilts and clothing.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 37 years, Mack; one brother, and three sisters.

    She is survived by her son, Andrew Simonton and wife Angie; daughter Valli Simonton; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters Corrine Boatwright and Gayle Drummond; brother Robert Drummond; and many other family members and friends.

    Visitation will be 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Memorial Park Funeral Home.

    Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, August 8, 2013, at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
