Mary Bell Swanson

EDMOND —     Mary Bell Swanson, 82, of Edmond, Okla., went to be with her Heavenly Father on December 6, 2012. She was born December 25, 1929 in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Walter and Annabell Moore, the seventh of eight children. She graduated from Putnam City High School in 1947. She has been an Edmond resident for the past 56 years. She married Calvin Dempsey Swanson June 2, 1951.

Mary was a devout Christ follower, reading daily in God’s word and living her life as a wonderful example of Christ’s love to others. She always put her family and others before herself. Her family was founding members of Putnam City Baptist Church. Later she enjoyed singing in the church choir at Oakdale (Witcher) Baptist Church, and volunteered to keep the books for the church as well. She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone with 27 years of loyal service.

Mary is survived by her husband of 61 years, Calvin Dempsey Swanson; daughter Gwen Carpenter; son Elmo Swanson; daughter-in-law, Patti Swanson; grandchildren Matt and wife Cindy Swanson; Lisa and husband Rick Masters; and great grandchildren, Bronson, Kilie, Linkoln, Mason, Neeley and Michael; and one sister, Viola Gray. She will be greatly missed by her family, until we are reunited in Heaven.

A visitation for Mary will be 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.  Monday, December 10, 2012 at Memorial Park Funeral Home.

We will celebrate her beautiful life 10 a.m. Tuesday December 11, at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a committal service at Memorial Park Cemetery. Please visit the guest book at www.memorialparkokc.com.
