Paul Lee Overton Jr., 74, of Edmond, Okla., was delivered into the hands of our Lord on August 27, 2012, a quiet Monday morning.
Paul was born July 16, 1938 in Chickasha, Okla. He graduated from Guthrie High School in 1956, and married Carol Elaine Brown on August 30, 1958. Paul was a graduate of Southern Methodist University with a Masters degree in Sacred Music. He was also a veteran officer of the United States Navy.
Paul was a man who lived his life with full trust in God. He devoted much of his life to the Methodist Church and the music programs therein. He pursued his love of music and faith with the highest integrity and upheld the highest ideals of peace and fellowship. Paul was a devoted husband and an inspiring and loving father. Most of all, he was a generous caretaker of his faith.
While we say goodbye with heavy sorrow, with the greatest joy you will be welcomed home.
Paul is survived by his wife Carol of the home; his son David of Oklahoma City, and his brother Jim and wife Maurie of Guthrie.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. Friday, August 31, at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 13313 N. Kelley Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73131.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday September 1, 2012 at Edmond First United Methodist Church, 305 East Hurd Street in Edmond. Interment will follow at 12:15 p.m. Rose Hill Cemetery,6001 NW Grand Boulevard, Oklahoma City.
