Larry D. Whitaker

EDMOND — Larry D. Whitaker, 72, of Edmond, Okla., was born in October 19, 1940 in Tellson, Ariz. He went to his Heavenly home on March 17, 2013, after a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was a graduate of Wynnewood OK High School, served in the US Marine Corps, and was a retired Oklahoma City Firefighter. He was also an active member of the Edmond Elks Lodge.

His hobbies and interests were watching football, traveling, playing his guitar, and singing. He loved to dance and was an avid book reader. He also enjoyed playing cards with his Elks brothers. His talents were oil painting and Western Art bronzing. He had a keen sense of humor, a love for life, and was a devoted Christian.

Larry is survived by his wife of 14 years, Billie; son Larry Whitaker, Jr., of California; stepchildren, Kelly and husband Patrick Hall, David Green, Sandy and husband John Connelly, and Julie Reinke; sister, Carolyn and husband Duane Boyce; two brothers, Kenneth Whiteaker and Bobby Whiteaker; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was loved by all and will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be at 9 am. - 8 p.m. Friday at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Services will be 2pm, Saturday, March 23, at the Chapel Hill

Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sky’s the Limit Ranch, Inc. Services under the direction of Memorial Park Funeral Home; 13313 N Kelley Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73131.
