The Edmond Sun
Arnold Dale “Pa Pa” Burleson, 70, of Edmond, Okla., went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 22, 2013. He was born February 1, 1943 in Atoka, Okla. to JC and Maxine Burleson. He grew up near Atoka, Okla., until his family moved to California and settled in the San Joaquin Valley.
In 1961, Arnold graduated from high school in California and then moved back to Oklahoma in 1963. On June 19, 1965, Arnold married Katherine Marie Ervin in Oklahoma City at Jefferson Heights Baptist Church. Shortly after they married they moved to Tulsa where Arnold and Kathy opened a large hotel chain that included Ramada, Quality Inn and Burleson Motor Inn. In the late 90’s, Arnold retired from the hotel business and he and his son, Cash opened their own roofing company, Southern Roofing, which his family still owns and operates.
Arnold was known to his friends as “Arney”; but was known as “Pa Pa” to his grandchildren. Arnold loved his family; they were his hobby. When he did have spare time he enjoyed going to the lake and taking his boat out, hunting and spending time outdoors. His most prized moments were those spent serving and enjoying his family. He was known by all as the model of a loving husband, devoted father and doting grandfather who will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Arnold was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carolyn Sue Burleson.
Arnold is survived by his wife of 49 years, Katherine “Kathy” Marie Burleson; son Arnold “Cash” Burleson and wife Kadi; daughters, Kristi L. Moses and husband Kenny and Bridgette DeLeo and fiancé Ed Fitch; grandchildren, Sabrina Sivigliano, Sophia DeLeo, and Parker Dale Morgan, and countless other loving family and friends.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Friday, April 26 at South Lakes Chapel under the direction of Vondel-Smith and Sons Mortuary, Oklahoma City.
