Vesta Lois Albright

EDMOND —     Vesta Lois Albright, 92, passed away April 6, 2013 at the Willow Creek Health Care Center in Guthrie, Okla.  She was born February 1, 1921, on a farm 5-1/2 miles east of Arapaho, Okla., to Floyd and Annie Newman.  She attended Normal View and Weatherford High School.  She married Roy E. Albright on June 29, 1939 in Cordell, Okla..

    Vesta worked at Blunck’s Studio in Clinton, Okla. for 11 years. During this period, Roy and Vesta learned the art of photography, utilizing their niece, Debbie Newman, as a model. Vesta became the first photographer for School Day pictures made by Blunck’s Studio. In March 1953, Vesta and Roy purchased and operated Cochrane Studio in Enid, Okla., until September of 1976.

    After the death of her husband in March 1977, Vesta returned to Weatherford to once again work as manager-photographer until her retirement in 1988.  Even after retirement, she worked in the fall, helping with School Day pictures.  She later moved to Edmond, Okla., in order to be closer to her family, until moving to Willow Creek Health Care Facility.

She loved scrapbooking, arts and crafts, and she loved to mess with her computer.

    She was preceded in death by her husband Roy, and parents, Floyd and Annie Newman.

    Vesta is survived by brother, Donald and wife Verda Mae Newman of Bethany, Okla.; sister Mary Anne (Newman) Agan of Edmond; nieces Debbie Newman of Oklahoma City, Okla., Sharilyn (Agan) Zabinsky of Littleton, Colo., and Shelia (Agan) and husband Michael Malone of Plano, Texas; great niece, Cindy Crowl of Oklahoma City; great nephews, Chad Crowl and wife of Enid, Nicholas and wife Sharon Creps and children Richard Lane and Madison Cheyeanne of Oklahoma City, Nolan Creps and wife and son Scott of Oklahoma City, and Sean Malone of Plano, Texas.

    Funeral services for Vesta will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at the Matthews Funeral Home Chapel in Edmond.  Interment will be 3 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford.
