The Edmond Sun
Oral Lee Semore, 55, of Edmond, Okla., passed away peacefully at his home on September 16, 2013 after battling pancreatic cancer for two years.
Oral was born in 1957 in Muskogee, Okla., and attended John Marshall High School before joining the Navy when he was 17 years old. After a year in the Navy, he realized he was better at giving orders then he was at taking them, and left the service to begin his career as a leader in the commercial construction industry. At his time of departure, Oral was the commercial sales manager for Alva Roofing Company in Edmond.
Oral is survived by his soul-mate and wife of 30 years, Lucy Semore; daughter Brandy Goodwin; son John Hawkins; four grandchildren, Austin Hawkins, Brooklyn Hawkins, Alex Goodwin, Miles Goodwin; six sisters and three brothers, and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. Oral was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all. To him, nothing came before family. Oral left a legacy with everyone he met, and that will live on through those that knew him. What he taught those around him is to never give up, never say I can’t, and to never quit. His will was strong, but his heart was gentle and he will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Oral’s family is extremely thankful for all the prayers and support they have received from extended family and friends during this time. The amount of people who have reached out to help during this time only further proves that Oral’s reach was far and wide.
Visitation will be from 1 - 8 p.m. Thursday, September 19, at Baggerley Funeral Home in Edmond. Funeral services for Oral will at 11 a.m. Friday September 20 at Baggerley Funeral Home. Oral will be laid to rest at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City, Okla..
