EDMOND —     The funeral for Boyd Leon Burris, 84, of Edmond, Okla., will be 10 a.m. Saturday, September 21, 2013, at Spring Creek Assembly of God Church, Edmond, with Rev. Ron McCaslin and Rev. Bob Walker officiating.   Burial will follow in Gracelawn Cemetery, with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home, Enid, Okla.  Viewing and visitation with family will be 6 - 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond.

    Leon was born to Prince and Pearl (Alexander) Burris on September 20, 1928, in Thomas, and passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013, in Oklahoma City, Okla.

    Leon grew up in Thomas and graduated from Thomas High School in 1946.  He served in the U.S. Army and married Violet Shreck on September 20, 1948 in Modesto, Calif., where they made their home.  They moved to Oklahoma in 1950, and Leon was employed at Tinker AFB as a logistics/procurement officer for the KC-135.  He retired in 1983, and they spent their early retirement years at their lake home in Branson, where Leon enjoyed boating and fishing.  Leon especially liked playing cards, dominos, and games with his friends.  He was a member of Spring Creek Assembly and NARFE.

    Leon is survived by his wife of 65 years, Violet; two children Brenda Damron and husband Ed of Tuttle, and Richard Burris and wife Monte of Enid; four grandchildren, Andrea (Dan) Sanders, Amanda (Wade) Grimm, Kay Lynn (Tim) Woods of Tulsa, and Phil (Kristi) Damron of Brentwood, California; six great-grandchildren, Hunter, Brayden and Jaxon Grimm, Trey and Lauren Sanders, and Rhett Damron; and one sister Letha Olson of Yukon.
