EDMOND —     Douglas “Doug” L. Arnett Sr., 70, of Edmond, Okla., passed away August 18, 2013 in Oklahoma City, Okla. after a long battle with an illness.

    Doug was born September 18, 1942 in Stillwater, Okla. to Willis and Erma (Simpson) Arnett. He was raised on a farm and attended Coyle School.

    Doug married the love of his life, Norma Phillips, on September 3, 1961 in Helena, Ark. He worked for Caston Lumber Company and began building houses in 1974.

    He is survived by his wife, Norma of the home; daughter Debbie Arnett of Eufuala, Okla., son Doug Arnett Jr. of Eufuala; daughter Teresa and Oscar Mendez of Edmond; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and brother Steve Arnett of Edmond. 

    He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Charles. 

    Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday August 22, 2013 at Quail Springs Baptist Church with interment at Coyle Cemetery. 

Services are under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond.
