William A. Clement

EDMOND —     William A. Clement, 66, of Edmond, Okla., known affectionately to his friends and family as Bill or Buzz, passed away September 8, 2013 with his family by his side. A brilliant geologist, avid outdoorsman, and dedicated family man, he will be greatly missed by his wide circle of family, friends, and colleagues.

Born in 1947 in Sagaponack, Long Island, N.Y., Bill attended Sagaponack School, Bridgehampton Elementary, and Southampton High School before graduating from the State University of New York at Oneonta. It was there that he met the love of his life, Marilyn.  After their marriage, the couple traveled to Corpus Christi, Texas for Bill’s first position as a Geologist at Conoco.  Bill later served as vice president and exploration manager for An-Son Corporation in Oklahoma City. Most recently Bill was manager of Clement Resources, LLC, President of Stone Canyon Exploration Inc., and a consulting geoscientist for Range Resources Corporation. He belonged to, and published articles for, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and the Oklahoma City Geological Society.

Bill practiced his profession as a geoscientist with passion and persistence. He infused his work with an optimism that was both boundless and uplifting to those around him. For 40 years, Bill constantly honed his skills in both geology and geophysics in an unending quest for discovery.  He relished his life’s work and was greatly respected by his many friends and colleagues.

Although he was dedicated to his profession, Bill’s greatest love was reserved for his wife and family and he always let them know they came first. His absence is deeply felt by his wife, Marilyn; children Adrienne, Jessica, and James; sons-in-law Joe and Jeff; daughter-in-law Jessica; grandchildren Hunter, Aaron, Dashel and Cooper; sisters Penny and Marcia; and brothers John and Chris.

A memorial service will be held in late September at the family farm, Bill’s sacred place of refuge and where he felt most at peace. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Charcot-Marie Tooth Association (CMTA). Please visit www.cmtausa.org/url/BillClement to fund research on causes and possible cures for CMT and patient education and support.
