Opal Frances Dennie, 82, of Oklahoma City, Okla. passed away October 10, 2013. She was born in Chouteau, Okla. to Homer and Jessie Moore on March 28, 1931.
Opal graduated high school in Pryor, Okla. She married the late Gene Dennis in 1949. This union produced her three children whom she loved very much. Later she married Carl Dennie and was married to Carl for 31 years before his death.
Opal spent most of her life as a farm girl and homemaker, working also in a print shop for a time. She served others as a nurse’s aide, enjoying working with the elderly in nursing homes in Oklahoma City.
In her later years, she found many friends in the residents of Legends Assisted Living Center. There she was loved for her energetic personality. Opal never missed a bingo game and collected hundreds of stuffed animals that were eventually donated to children when they became to plentiful for her apartment.
Opal is preceded in death by her parents and husband Carl.
She is survived by her son Gary Dennis and wife Debbie of Dallas, Texas; daughters Judy Young and husband Rudy of Edmond, Okla. and Nancy Ottinger and husband Marshall of Oklahoma City. She is also survived by siblings Louise Dennis of Edmond, Lula Mae Collins of Pryor, Okla. and Lloyd Moore of Broken Arrow, Okla. Opal leaves behind an additional legacy of seven grandchildren and thirteen great- grandchildren.
Graveside services were 11 a.m. Monday, October 14, 2013 at Matthews Funeral Home of Edmond, followed by interment at Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Baptist Boy’s Ranch Town, 5100 S.E. 33rd St. Edmond, OK 73013, is suggested.
