Lillie Mae East

EDMOND —     Lillie Mae (Eck) East, 66, of Guthrie, Okla. died October 24, 2013 at her home in Guthrie. She was born January 16, 1947 in Enid, Okla. to Waldo D. and Waneta Beatrice Eck of Meno, Okla.

At a young age along with her parents and siblings she moved to a farm near Covington, Okla.  They were wheat and dairy farmers.  Lillie’s teen years were spent being one of her father’s dairy barn helpers, milking every morning and evening. She started her schooling at the little one-room country school Elmdale.  Lillie graduated from Covington High School in 1965.  She was chosen by the Future Farmers of America as their Sweetheart her junior year.  She was active in the school choir, the school harmony quartet, and the Future Farmers of America.

Lillie had a 40-year career as a corporate executive assistant.  She served on the board of directors of the Oklahoma Federal Employees Credit Union and had a CPS (certified personal secretary) certification.  She retired in 2009 due to ill health.

Lillie had a sincere love for animals starting with Boots the golden brown Australian Shepherd  that would bring up the dairy cows for milking.  She was privileged to have four special four-legged companions thru the years that were loyal and dedicated to giving her lots of joy and much happiness. Preceding her were Sugar and Rocky, a sister and brother team of beautiful full-breed Australian Shelties,  a German Shepherd named Jack and lastly her intelligent red German Shepherd she called BZack.

Lillie is survived by her two sisters, Berniece Miles and husband Carl of Edmond, Okla. and Waneta Creel of Guthrie, along with many dear nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father Waldo D. Eck, mother Waneta Beatrice (Davis) Eck and her siblings Bertha Miles, Hurley and Larry Eck.  Her family and many friends will miss her dearly.

A celebration of Lillie’s life will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday November 17, 2013  in the Crystal Room of the Scottish Rite Masonic Temple on South Capitol Street in Guthrie.
