EDMOND —
Joan Marie Holmes Fraim, 83, of Edmond, Okla., passed away peacefully Wednesday August 22, 2012. She was born May 14,1929 in Edmond to Ivan V (Tubby) and Viola Holmes. She married George A. Fraim on December 18, 1949. They were classmates at Clegern Elementary and life long residents of Edmond.
Joan was an elementary school teacher for 41 years. She began her teaching career in 1950, and moved into the brand new Orvis Risner Elementary School in 1962 and retired from there in 1991. She was very proud of having taught several generations of multiple families. After her retirement she felt blessed and truly enjoyed the opportunity to spend time with and care for her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 50 years, George.
She is survived by her daughters, Leann Taylor and husband Randy, Nancy Tibbits and husband Glen, all of Edmond; grandchildren, Dawn Cash of Edmond, Cris Taylor and wife April of Haslet, Texas; Lance Tibbits and wife Fawn of Edmond, Travis Taylor and wife Kandi of Edmond, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2012 at Matthews Funeral Home and Cremation Services Chapel, Edmond. Interment will follow at Gracelawn Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond.
