Charlotte A. Worsham

EDMOND —     Charlotte Annette (Moore) Worsham, 69, went to be with her Heavenly Father on February 21, 2013 after a long struggle with cancer. She was born August 21, 1943 in Durant, Okla. to G. Bruce Moore and Juanita C. McCoy.

Charlotte attended U. S. Grant High School for five years and after a move, graduated from Moore High School in 1961. She married Danny J. Worsham, Sr. in December of 1961 and from this marriage two children were born: Danny J. Worsham, Jr. and Marsha Hicks.

Charlotte owned and operated the Around The Corner Restaurant in Downtown Edmond, for 24 years and retired in April 2012. Around The Corner was a family restaurant and Charlotte wanted everyone to feel at home and treated everyone the same. Many long lasting friendships were made there. She was always joking, pulling pranks and even climbed a tree trying to save the trees on Broadway. Everyone knew her as the “Chicken Lady” and customers and family said, “Every time we see a chicken we think of you”. “Bicycle Bob” was one of her many friends. Contributions from her customers went to the purchase of the statues in front of the Restaurant “Ham & Eggs” and “Girl Feeding Chickens”.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother and grandfather Geddie E. McCoy and Willard McCoy and paternal grandfather William “Tobe” Moore of Durant.

She is survived by her mother Juanita Foresee of Midwest City, father G. Bruce Moore of Durant; aunt Elizabeth Beavers of Durant; children Danny J. Worsham, Jr. ( Janet) of Carthage, Texas and Marsha Hicks of Wichita, Kan.; grandchildren Ian and Dylan Hicks of Norman, Okla., Sara Redfern of Carthage, Texas and James Posey and wife also of Carthage; sisters Sherry Meador (James) of Newcastle, Okla., Candy Reece (Bob) Oklahoma City, Okla.; brothers John C. Gibson (Wanda) of Moore, Okla.; Jimmy Gibson (Cathy) of Newalla, Okla., Ted Moore of Durant, and many nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Autumn Bridge Hospice for their support and special friends Pat and Dana Talley as well as many other friends for their love and support through her struggle with cancer. In lieu of flowers Charlotte wished that donations be made to the Hope Center in Edmond.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2013 at Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond.
