EDMOND —
Barbara Jean Anderson, 64, a long time resident of Edmond, Okla., passed away February 27, 2013 in Oklahoma City, Okla. She was born August 16, 1948 in Seattle, Wash., to James and Jean Nichol.
Shortly after high school, Barbara met the love of her life, William Anderson. After their union in 1966, they started a family and had three children together. After moving several times with job re-locations, Barbara and her family moved to Edmond in 1975.
Everyone that knew Barbara knew how intelligent and well spoken she was. She could make people feel stupid on accident because she naturally thought on a different level than most. She was an active member of MENSA, which she was very proud of. With MENSA, she shared ideas and conversations with other like minded people and astute intellects. Barbara loved learning. She loved to read and would stay up all night to finish books she enjoyed at the time. Her love for learning lead her to her other passion, television, and she would watch anything she could fit on her DVR. Later in life, she became hopelessly addicted to online games such as “Words with Friends”. Anyone that has played her knows that she always won, and she was very competitive.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and brother James Nichol.
She is survived by her children, Rick and his wife Jamie, Timothy, and Michael; brother Bill Nichol; grandchildren, Bailie Anderson, Nicolas Anderson, Alex Anderson, and Chance Anderson; as well as several step-children and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2013 at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Services for Barbara will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Memorial Park Historic Cemetery Chapel, 13400 N. Kelley Ave, Oklahoma City.
