EDMOND —
Madeline Jeanette Martin Morris, 87, of Edmond, Okla., passed from this life to eternity with Jesus on February 28, 2013. She was born December 29, 1925 in Wellsville, Mo., to Floy J. and Edna Alderson Martin.
She attended Wellsville schools and continued her education at Kirksville State Teachers College and then graduated in 1945 from Baylor University Hospital in Dallas, Texas in medical technology.
She married Calvin Don Morris March 1, 1947. Her death came one day short of their celebration of 66 years together. Madeline loved her profession and worked at Osler Medical Laboratory for almost 60 years. She enjoyed traveling the world and she loved anything with a needle and thread – sewing, needlepoint, knitting, and smocking. She and Don moved from Dallas, Texas to Edmond.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Don; two daughters Susan Newman of Downers Grove, Ill., and Donna Wight and husband Preston Wight of Edmond; sister Wilma Blackshaw and husband Lester Blackshaw of Mexico, Mo.; four granddaughters, Caroline Young, Kate Chittenden, Jeanette Stevenson, and Allison Williams; and three great grandchildren. In addition she is survived by nieces Sarah Thompson, Stacy Kaiser, Suzanne McKenna, Maria Bowie, and nephew Johan Morris.
She was preceded in death by nephew, Martin J. Blackshaw.
Graveside services will be in Wellsville, Mo., at Hopewell Cemetery.
Local arrangements are by Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond.
