EDMOND —
Lena Mae Eskridge, 93, of Edmond, Okla., passed away July 30, 2012. She was the beloved wife of John H. Eskridge and mother of Gordon W. Eskridge and Lena Mae Eskridge LaDrew.
Lena Mae was the nurse for the first female pediatrician in Oklahoma and instilled that same pioneering spirit in her children and grandchildren. She was a loving person who always took care of her family and friends.
Her legacy lives on in seven grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Her grandchildren’s favorite memories are those of cooking together in the kitchen, reading books together, playing cards, making homemade ice cream at family birthday parties, and feeding the ducks at Will Rogers Park. She always attended recitals, shows and school programs. She enjoyed sewing and taught those skills to many of her grandchildren. She enjoyed attending the theatre, and would often invite a grandchild to go with her.
Grandmother Lena will be missed, but her family is grateful for the knowledge that she is now reunited with Poppa John.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oklahoma WONDERtorium Children’s Museum at 308 West Franklin, Stillwater, OK 74075.
Private family services for Lena’s internment were at Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond.
A memorial service may be held at a later date.
