Helen LaBissoniere

EDMOND —     Helen Marguerite Driscoll LaBissoniere, affectionately known as “Nanny” or “Nan”, 84, of Meriden, Conn. and Edmond, Okla., went to heaven on April 12, 2014 with family by her side.  She was born April 19, 1929 to the late Bertha (Fortin) and William Jeremiah Driscoll. She was a graduate of Meriden High School.

    Helen was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, George L. Hall LaBissoniere, her son Robert L. LaBissoniere, her brother Daniel Driscoll, her sisters, Mary Wiegert, Ann Lurvey, Bertha (Birdie) DeAngelo, Marguerite Powell, and Geraldine Driscoll, three nieces and two nephews.

    Helen is survived by eight of her children and their spouses: Jean and Frank (Chip) Civale, Mary and Gary Patino, Thomas and Linda (Deroy) LaBissoniere, George and Mona (Clavette) LaBissoniere, Daniel and Sharlene (Brooks) LaBissoniere, all of Meriden, Conn., Helen and Kim Civale of East Windsor, Conn., Michael and Carole (Francis) LaBissoniere of Middletown, Conn., and Michelle and Jerry Lopez, of Edmond, with whom she made her home for the last 14 years. “Nanny” is also survived by 24 grandchildren: Sara (LaBissoniere) and Damian Waddle, Dylan and Danielle Civale, Candra Civale, Amy (Patino) and Jeff Pagini, EM3 Danielle (Patino) and Sam Medina, Gary Ryan Patino, Jessica Patino, Kelly Patino, Melissa Justice, Emily LaBissoniere, Thomas LaBissoniere, George (Alex) LaBissoniere, Andre LaBissoniere, Kara (LaBissoniere) and Nicholas Felton, Krista LaBissoniere, Nathan LaBissoniere, Chloe LaBissoniere, Noah LaBissoniere, Jada LaBissoniere, Nicolas Civale, Aaron Civale, Joelle (Lopez) and Austin McClune, Julia Lopez, Jordan Lopez and Mackenzie Cobble. Nanny is also survived by nine great grandchildren: Jackson Waddle, Lilly DeStefano, Aidan Roberts, Sophia Civale, Giuliana Civale, Kaylan Erskine, Emma Pagini, Kaitlyn Pagini, and Natalia Piccirillo, many nieces and nephews, and loving friends, especially her best buddy, Marilyn Konopka. Nanny is also survived by her beloved puppies: Jaxi and Jett.

    Before retiring at the age of 70, Helen worked for many years at the Hawthorne Inn, sharing her beautiful smile and warm heart. She was a kind, generous, and beautiful woman who touched the lives of everyone she met. Her smile could light up a room. Nan was happiest when surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  There are no words to express how much she was loved or how much she will be missed.

    A Memorial Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 22 at St. Monica Catholic Church in Edmond.

    A Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 26 at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 585 Main Street, South Meriden, Conn.
