Barton Joseph Rodr

EDMOND — Barton Joseph Rodr, 39, of Edmond, Okla., passed away on October 5, 2012. He was born on December 28, 1972 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Ron and Victoria Rodr.

Bart lived in Edmond until 1989 when the family moved to Atlanta, Ga., where he finished high school.  There he met his wife, Jennifer Ashley, and they married April 22, 1995. Their son, Nicholas Alexander, was born in Atlanta and son Christopher Joel died in infancy. When Nick was three years old, the family moved back to Edmond. Their youngest son, Zachary Thomas, was born in 2000.

Bart’s career was in computers. He enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. He loved music, playing games, spending time with his boys, and making others smile. Some of his many hobbies included balloon animals, making jewelry, fishing, planning the restoration of his 1988 Pontiac Trans Am, and website and video design. Bart had a larger than life personality and lit up every room with his enthusiasm and joy for life. His sense of humor is the source of many funny stories shared by his friends.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer;  sons Nicholas and Zachary; father Ron Rodr and his wife Marilyn; mother Victoria Hicks and her husband George; sister Elaina Rodr; half sister Kim Rodr Luzzi; step-sisters Michelle Severtson, Kim Arends, Christina Bonk; stepbrother Jeff Hicks; nephews Josh Rodr, Tyler and Cooper Arends, Drew and Jacob Severtson; and niece Cheyenne Rodr.

A celebration of Bart’s life will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at the First Christian Church of Edmond, 201 East 2nd Street, Edmond. Services are under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Edmond.
