EDMOND —
Jewell Elizabeth “Beth” Self, 87, formerly of Edmond, Okla., went home to the Lord on Monday July 30, 2012 after an extended illness. She was born January 3, 1925 to Eunice and Jack Curtis in Boswell, Okla.
Beth and Sidney Self were married 52 years before his death. Beth worked in the cafeteria at Orvis Risner Elementary for several years but was mainly a housewife. After Sid retired they moved to Kingston, Okla., and lived there until his death when she moved back to Edmond. In 2006 Beth moved with her daughter and son in law to Eufaula, Okla. where she lived until her death. A long time member of the Edmond Church of Christ, she joined the Eufaula Church in 2007 where she was active in the Ladies Bible Class.
Beth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Sid, son Wilburn and sisters Jane and Ruth.
She is survived by her daughter Lynda and husband David Van Nostrand of Eufaula; sons and their wives, Donald and Wana Self of Edmond, Mike and Donna Self of Guthrie, Okla., and Jack and Joy Self of Edmond. In addition she is survived by 11 grandchildren, Terri Serrato and husband John, Edmond, Rick Van Nostrand and his wife Erin of El Reno, and Kathy Miller and husband Johnny of Midwest City; Chris and Laura Self of Guthrie; Matt Self of Oklahoma City; Stacy Lenahan of Edmond; Eric Self of Madill; Jennie Mulligan and husband Jason of Oklahoma City; Dawn Self of Edmond; Daniel Self and his wife Roxy of Edmond; Paul Self and wife Brandy of Lavon, Texas, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Beth was very proud of her family and loved them all very much. She could hardly wait until the next family gathering to see everyone.
Visitors are welcome to come by the funeral home anytime after 2 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly Edmond.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday August 4 at Matthews Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Kent Risley and Ron Goodnight from the Edmond Church of Christ will be officiating.

Nancy Dorene Schulz, 78, of Edmond, Okla., passed away June 7, 2013 in Edmond. She was born January 17, 1935 in Clay Center, Kan., to Orin Jacob and Gwendolyn Jewell (Bray) Absher. She attended schools in Topeka, Kan., and graduated from Topeka High School in 1953. She married Fred Schulz at Euclid Methodist Church in Topeka on October 14, 1956.
